Digital Transformation IT Project Manager – MES Focus

About the Company

We are hiring for a large, well-established industrial manufacturing company in Sofia, part of a leading international holding group. This is a stable employer with a strong market presence, investing in long-term digital transformation, including a new Manufacturing Execution System (MES).

About the Role

This is a permanent internal position with long-term growth potential. The IT Project Manager will lead the end-to-end implementation of a new MES platform, coordinating cross-functional teams and external vendors. After go-live (~18 months), the role will focus on ensuring the effective use and continuous optimization of the MES system, while also leading further digital transformation initiatives across the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage full lifecycle of MES implementation: planning, execution, go-live, stabilization;
• Coordinate internal teams (IT, Production, Planning, Quality) and external system integrators;
• Deliver project on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals;
• Track milestones, risks, and KPIs;
• Lead change management and user adoption;
• Report regularly to senior management;
• Plan and lead future IT and digital initiatives post go-live.

Required Qualifications:

• Several years managing IT or MES/digital transformation projects in manufacturing;
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid);
• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification preferred;
• Experience with MES or shop floor systems is a strong plus;
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills;
• Fluent in English.

Nice to Have:

• Understanding of manufacturing processes and MES–ERP integration;
• Vendor and system integrator management experience;
• Exposure to change management or Lean / Six Sigma.
